Motherhood is a journey like no other. It’s filled with challenges, joy, sleepless nights, and moments of love so overwhelming that they become etched in your heart forever. For me, becoming a mother was not about balancing it all—it was about diving fully into this new chapter and enjoying every precious moment with my little one.
Choosing to Fully Embrace Motherhood
When my daughter was born, I knew I was experiencing something for the first time that I could never get back if I let it pass by. I didn’t try to balance motherhood and art. I chose to be fully present for her. Every nap, every feeding, every diaper change—these became the rhythm of my days.
Of course, there were moments when I missed painting, creating, and working on my art. Sometimes, I’d pick up my brushes, but my mind was always on her. And that was okay. I wasn’t failing; I was prioritizing what mattered most to me at that time.
In 2021, hiring help wasn’t really an option for us. My husband and I decided to navigate this phase together. He has always been my biggest support, and we truly enjoyed every bit of those early days as a team.
Lessons I Learned Along the Way
If there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this: don’t try to ride two boats at the same time. It’s exhausting, and it doesn’t let you fully enjoy either. Motherhood already brings so many changes—physical, emotional, and mental. You don’t need to add the pressure of “doing it all” on top of that.
For me, giving my daughter my undivided attention during her time was the best decision I could have made. It gave me peace and allowed me to embrace the beautiful messiness of being a new mom.
Yes, there were times when I felt like I wasn’t doing enough in my art. But I reminded myself that this phase was temporary. My art wasn’t going anywhere, and when the time was right, I’d return to it.
My Advice to Moms
To every mom out there, I want to say this: enjoy your motherhood to the fullest. Don’t let the pressure to “balance it all” steal these once-in-a-lifetime moments from you. Your work, your passions—they’ll be there when you’re ready.
Motherhood is also part of your journey. It’s not a pause or a distraction—it’s a chapter that adds depth and meaning to everything else you’ll do.
When you find the time and energy to return to your work, you’ll do it with a heart full of love and inspiration from this incredible experience. And if you feel like you’re not doing enough—remind yourself of the most important work you’re doing right now: raising a little human with love and care.
My Vision for My Family
For me, it’s not just about being a good artist or a good mom. It’s about raising a family that values happiness, resilience, and togetherness. I want to teach my daughter that no matter what challenges come her way, she can face them head-on and come out stronger on the other side.
Every struggle is followed by a beautiful moment, and that’s what makes life so meaningful. This belief guides me in both my art and my motherhood journey.
Motherhood isn’t easy, but it’s beautiful. It’s a time to slow down, to learn, and to grow—not just as a mother but as a person. So, to all the moms reading this: don’t rush. Take it one day at a time, enjoy the little moments, and know that you’re doing an amazing job.
This is your journey. Embrace it.
